Gemstone Cuff and Wrapped Braclet

Second Wind Jewelry and Weaving

Second Wind Jewelry, by Margaret Cherre, began in 2002. Working with semi-precious gemstones and precious metals, Cherre creates earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and other accessories that range from dainty and graceful to chunky and funky. Over time she has incorporated non-traditional materials into her jewelry, including everything from playing cards to hardware store items. Cherre has also added healing talismans to her offerings, researching specific gemstone properties and creating talismans specific to an individual.

Evolving as an artisan, in 2007 Cherre added an entirely new line of work, expanding her business to become Second Wind Jewelry & Weaving. All her weaving is done on a vintage, handmade floor loom, a quiet-operating, small loom that suits her home, her work, and her life beautifully. Cherre weaves scarves, shawls, and other functional pieces in a wide range of fabrics, including organic cotton, bamboo, Egyptian cotton, rayon boucle, tencel, cotton chenille, and more. Most of the fibers Cherre uses are handpainted, meaning that each skein is individually dyed by a fiber artist, with colors that blend and swirl in pleasing arrangements.

Cherre is always happy to do custom work in both jewelry and weaving. She has created bridesmaid necklaces for several weddings, fashioned jewelry to complement a new outfit, and used customers’ vintage beads and buttons in designs for new necklaces and earrings. She also weaves to customer specifications, weaving scarves in specific fabrics and colors for a woman with environmental allergies, baby blankets for someone's beloved grandchildren, and lap robes in warm, cozy fabrics for a man's favorite aunt.

All of Cherre's work is individually designed and created in her home in rural, upstate New York, ensuring quality workmanship and attention to detail. It’s easy for her to offer long-range guarantees for her jewelry and weaving, ensuring that customers are delighted with their purchases, and that those purchases will serve them well for years.
